Oldest Living Pony in the World
Arthur becomes King of all ponies
Little King Arthur is a 50 year old Shetland pony who has just officially been named the oldest living pony in the world by Guiness World Records Ltd.
He was discovered by the Veteran Horse Society in June 2004 and his owner was so impressed with their work that she decided their centre in West Wales would be the best place for him to enjoy the rest of his days. She also hoped that he could help other veteran horses and ponies by becoming the face of care and management of older horses. The VHS now owns King Arthur and his care is funded by their charity, Veteran Horse Welfare. Arthur’s best friend is a beautiful 21 year old thoroughbred called Alibi who has been at the centre for 3 years.
If you would like to adopt King Arthur or any of his veteran friends and help the Society care for them, send a stamped addressed envelope to The Veteran Horse Society, Hendre Fawr, St. Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire SA43 3EA or call 01239 881 300.
Perhaps you would like to meet Arthur at the Society’s Open Day on September 19th? Admission is free but donations are gratefully received.
